Leadership Vs Management



Leadership & Management is a so important for the organization’s to deliver a good service. Although the two are similar to some extent, they may involve different type of outlooks, skills & behaviors.

One may assume that all managers are leaders, but that is not correct since some of the managers   do not exercise leadership, and some people lead management, and effective leadership for optimal success (Kotterman, 2006)


What is Leadership

Leadership is the process of influencing others to understand and agree about what needs to be done and how to do it, and the process of facilitating individual and collective efforts to accomplish shared objectives

Leaders always have a clear vision about what can be achieved and they communicate this to followers and evolve strategies for realizing the vision.  They always encourage & motivate people and are able to negotiate for resources and other support to achieve their goals.


What is Management
 Accoding to kotter ,(2001),Management is about coping with complexity and good management brings a degree of order and consistency to key dimensions like quality and profitability of products.

This might allow for a reciprocal connection between leadership and management, implying leaders need management skills to be effective & managers should strive be good leaders to perform the organization goals.
